I know you might be sick of hearing about The Carrie Diaries, and it hasn’t even aired yet. I might be a little skeptical about the storyline, too, but honestly, I’m just so excited about the clothes and seeing what the costume designer (with quite an impeccable resume), Eric Daman, has in store for us this time.
We get it. The Carrie Diaries is about a small town teen making the big-city transition to Manhattan; but more than being a New York love story, this show is about fashion. Ever since Daman had us drooling over Blair and Serena’s wardrobes on Gossip Girl, if there’s anyone we’d trust with taking on Carrie Bradshaw in the 80’s to put a modern twist on her iconic style for a SATC prequel, it’s him.
In an interview with AfterBuzz TV, Daman gave a little insight as to where he’s pulling his inspiration from for The Carrie Diaries. “We’re using a lot of Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Topshop, and H&M; trying to keep it high and low and keep that aspirational authenticity to it so it seems attainable for the crowd that we want to reach.”
Well, kids, there you have it. Fashionistas everywhere now know where they can start recreating the looks from this season’s most anticipated premiere.
As if you could, don’t forget to check out The Carrie Diaries, airing January 14 on the CW.
